Trump Relives His Past Cognitive Test Glory at Rally: ‘A Giraffe, A Tiger … A Whale, Which One’s the Whale?’

Former President Donald Trump fondly recalled the time he aced a cognitive exam during a Wednesday night rally in New Hampshire.

Speaking at the event in Portsmouth, the former president launched into the full story of how he decided to take the exam assessing his cognitive function even though he was told it “can be hard.”

“I said, ‘I gotta take it, ’cause I gotta shut it up,'” Trump said. “And I took it, and I aced it.”

The comment was met with applause from his fans. The former president went on to make light of how easy the initial questions were, but later in the exam, he was confronted with “tough stuff.”

“And let me tell you, they always show you the first one — like a giraffe, a tiger, a whale,” Trump said, to laughter in the room. “Which one is the whale? Ok… And that goes on for three or four. And then it gets harder, and harder, and harder. And then it’s ‘multiply 3,293 times four, divide by three.’ They have plenty of tough stuff.”

One of Trump’s remaining rivals for the Republican nomination, Nikki Haley, has called for mental competency tests for politicians over the age of 75. (Trump is 77.) The former South Carolina governor has tried to make Trump’s age and cognitive function an issue in recent days. During her speech following the Iowa caucus, she said Trump and Biden are similar in that they are both “about 80 years old.”
