WATCH: Joe Biden Doesn’t Hesitate or Equivocate When Asked if Putin is a ‘Killer’ — Unlike Trump

President Joe Biden didn’t hesitate or equivocate when George Stephanopoulos asked him if Russian President Vladimir Putin is a “killer” — a stark contrast to the way then-President Donald Trump answered the same question almost exactly four years ago.

During his exclusive one-on-one with the president on ABC News’ Good Morning America, Stephanopoulos brought up the just-released ODNI report detailing Russia’s attempts to help Trump in the 2020 election.

“What price must he pay?” Stephanopoulos asked.

“He will pay a price,” Biden said, then recounted an anecdote in which he told Putin, to his face, that he had no soul.

“I wasn’t being a wise guy, I was alone with him in his office how it came about,” Biden said, and referencing the infamous George W. Bush quote about looking into Putin’s eyes, said he told Putin that “I looked in your eyes and I  don’t think you have a soul.”

“He looked back at me and said ‘We understand each other,” Biden said, and added, “Look, the most important thing dealing with foreign leaders in my experience — and I’ve dealt with an awful lot of them over my career — is, just know the other guy.”

“So you know Vladimir Putin, you think he’s a killer?” Stephanopoulos asked.

“Mmm-hmm, I do,” Biden said without hesitation.

“What price must he pay?” Stephanopoulos asked.

“The price he’s going to pay will, you’ll see shortly,” Biden said, while also asserting he’d continue to work with Russia on areas of common interest.

Just a little more than four years ago, Trump had quite a different reaction when he was reminded that Putin is “a killer” by an interviewer.

“There are a lot of killers. We’ve got a lot of killers. What do you think — our country’s so innocent. You think our country’s so innocent?” Trump said.
