NY Times Needed an Eraser for Scott Walker Column
Wisconsin Governor and 2016 hopeful Scott Walker is enjoying a spot of national attention, which entails being subjected to increased scrutiny from the likes of New York Times columnists. Gail Collins took his measure Sunday over his signature issue — the fight against public unions — by critiquing him for an anecdote of a teacher-of-the-year he claims was laid off due to union rules.
“Those layoffs happened because Walker cut state aid to education,” Collins wrote. The headline:

That caught the attention of the Weekly Standard’s John McCormack, who pointed out that “Collins is talking about teacher layoffs that occurred in 2010. Walker did not become governor until 2011.” (McCormack further claimed that “Walker’s reforms actually saved teachers’ jobs.”)
The sentence has been removed from Collins’ piece, which now carries the following correction:
