ESPN’s First Take Blasted for Asking if Arch Manning is the Greatest Manning Yet: ‘Pump the Brakes Y’all’ He’s 16!
We’re stuck in the slowest part of the NFL calendar right now — post-draft and pre-training camp. But that won’t stop sports shows from digging real deep to find a worthy football talking point.
With the NBA playoffs dominating the sports conversation, Stephen A. Smith and Max Kellerman took a quick break from basketball during ESPN’s First Take Tuesday. Instead, they addressed the NFL’s Royal Family, discussing whether Arch Manning will surpass his hall-of-fame relatives to become the family’s best quarterback.
Peyton Manning went to 14 Pro Bowls and is widely considered to be one of the top-five quarterbacks in NFL history. He combined with his brother Eli Manning to win four Super Bowls. Not an easy legacy for a high school quarterback to follow.
It’s hard to imagine Stephen A. Smith and Max Kellerman are watching much game film of the 16-year-old Manning beyond viral video of one throw at a Clemson camp. We don’t even know if the grandson of Archie, and nephew of both Peyton and Eli will be a good college quarterback, let alone reach hall-of-fame status in the NFL.
After posing the question, “Will Arch Manning surpass Peyton, Eli and Archie to become the greatest Manning yet?” Social media quickly reminded ESPN that the younger Manning is just 16-years-old!
