Yankees Announcer Michael Kay Goes OFF on Listener for Accusing Him of ‘Gaslighting’ Fans About Team: ‘What a Fool!’
Longtime New York Yankees announcer Michael Kay took exception to a listener accusing him of “gaslighting” fans with his comments on the team.
On Thursday’s episode of The Michael Kay Show, Kay read a tweet that recently came to his attention. In the tweet, a Yankees fan known a “JRock” called for the firings of Yankees manager Aaron Boone and Yankees general manager Brian Cashman because of the team’s struggles. Then, he took it a step further by claiming everyone at the YES Network should be fired, including Kay, for “gaslighting the fans into believing all this B.S.”
Kay challenged the fan to make it happen.
“JRock,” Kay said. “Come get me. Get me fired. Get me fired. Me, the big gaslighter. Get me fired. Are you such a simpleton that you allow yourself to be gaslit? I’m not gaslighting anybody! I speak the truth! Nobody tells me what to say. You think the Yankees like that I’m ripping Alex Verdugo right now? Go away, little boy. You’re annoying. ‘They’re gaslighting fans.’ No, because you guys have something in your mind, and we’re speaking our truths and you don’t like it. Worry about gaslighting in politics! Don’t worry about gaslighting at the YES Network! We don’t do any gaslighting. We tell the truth. Nobody tells us what to say. ‘Gaslighting.’ What a fool! Silly little boy. silly little boy!”
