Bette Midler Remixes Classic Tune to Slam ‘Orange A**’ Trump and Praise ‘Lord of All Our Rage’ Colbert

Bette Midler reworked her classic tune Wind Beneath My Wings to praise Stephen Colbert for never kissing President Donald Trump’s “orange a**.”

Midler joined Colbert on The Late Show on Tuesday evening and brought with her new lyrics for her 1988 song that referred to Colbert as “the lord of all our rage.”

Midler kicked off the interview by begging Colbert, “Don’t go!”

Colbert’s late-night show will be ending in the coming months after CBS announced its cancellation in July. That announcement came just weeks after the network’s parent company Paramount made a $16 million settlement with Trump over a lawsuit related to a 60 Minutes interview with former Vice President Kamala Harris.

“I worked this up for you because I wanted to thank you, personally and publicly for all you did for me for these past nine and a half years,” Midler told Colbert on Tuesday. “And I mean this from the bottom of my heart, I would not — I’m going to cry — I would not have made it through without you. I really wouldn’t have. You’re a voice of sanity and reason and, most important, honor.

The audience jumped in to help Midler with the final “orange a**” line and after some applause, she added, “Fly, fly, fly away… thank you, thank you. Thank God for you, the lord of all our rage.”
