Brian Williams Will Anchor NBC Special on LA School Closings Since Lester Holt Is Out Sick

Former NBC Nightly News anchor Brian Williams should be happy for the Los Angeles Unified School District closings, since the event was the last in a serious of coincidental turns letting him turn to the NBC news desk on Tuesday.

NBC is set to air a news special on the school closings in Los Angeles at 1 p.m. ET. Unfortunately, go-to news anchor Lester Holt is out sick. So who’s the second-string player waiting for his big break in the dugout?

Williams is that second-string player, according to NBC’s PR Twitter account. Pete Williams and Joe Fryer will accompany him during the broadcast.

The details of the broadcast and Williams’ involvement in it aren’t known at this time.
