Cenk Uygur Calls Out Tucker Carlson for Anti-Semitic ‘Jewish Puppet Master’ Trope

Cenk Uygur called out Tucker Carlson on The Young Turks Wednesday for what he called the promotion of an anti-semitic trope in his ‘The Zucker Puppet.’ Carlson’s imagery was in response to CNN’s Brian Stelter, who had harshly criticized Carlson’s non-apology after recent audio clips from Carlson’s past shock-jock interviews came to light.

During a Tuesday segment in which Carlson counter-punched against Stelter and the progressive media watchdog Media Matters behind the released clips, the Fox News prime time host featured the following graphic that featured Stelter as a puppet to CNN President Jeff Zucker, who is Jewish-American.

Uygur compared this puppet master imagery to 1940s propaganda in Germany. “That is a deeply anti-semitic trope, it goes back in history a long time of the Jews being puppet masters. Jeff Zucker is a Jewish-American.” Uygur said, calling out Carlson for perpetuating an anti-semitic trope. He added, “these are the people who claim to be outraged by Ilhan Omar.”

Uygur went on to describe Carlson’s segment as an, “over the top counterattack,” and showed a comparison of ‘The Zucker Puppet’ graphic to propaganda from 1940s Germany of a Jewish puppet master. He then showed two posters from 1940’s Germany that also featured Jewish puppet imagery”

“That is a super clear anti-semitic trope,” Uygur reiterated, before hitting Carlson’s non-apology. “He didn’t do the right thing here. He didn’t, in any way, show contrition for all the terrible things he has said,” Uygur further explained.

“On top of that, to double down and use an anti-semitic trope. Totally unacceptable from the people who feigned outrage over Ilhan Omar’s comments.”

Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) has received a lot of unwanted attention for a series of what many have labeled anti-Semitic tropes, notably suggesting that members of Congress were in support of the pro-Israel lobby because of financial influence, and the suggestion of dual loyalty by some Jewish American members of Congress.

The Jewish “puppet master” conspiracy was most recently in the news last year after a mass shooting at a Pittsburgh Synagogue in which the assailant appeared to believe that Jewish billionaire George Soros, who helps to fund many progressive outlets, where funding the caravans of migrants heading to the US Southern border.
