CNN’s Abby Phillip Shuts Down Kevin O’Leary’s Attack On CBS Over Interview ‘Editing’: ‘We’re Moving On!’
CNN host Abby Phillip shut down panelist and Shark Tank star Kevin O’Leary’s sarcastic jab at CBS’ 60 Minutes as “really credible” after another contributor referenced their reporting.
As the NewsNight panel discussed President Donald Trump’s deportations Monday, contributor Ana Navarro cited a 60 Minutes report that found 75% of those arrested and deported to El Salvador by the Trump administration claimed they were not involved with gangs.
In response, O’Leary, the Trump-supporting entrepreneur, ripped the newsmagazine for claims it was biased in its editing of Democratic nominee Kamala Harris’s interview during the election. Trump is suing CBS over the claims.
Phillip, however, was quick to jump in, arguing Harris’s interview was not “edited deceptively” and adding that “editing interviews is allowed in the United States of America.”
O’LEARY: CBS is really credible.
ASHLEY ALLISON: We’ve only got an hour.
O’LEARY: They don‘t edit any interviews.
PHILLIP: Oh, okay. All right —
NAVARRO: Everybody edits interviews, Kevin. ‘Shark Tank’ edits, too. Everybody edits.
PHILLIP: That‘s a complete non-sequitur, okay? It‘s unrelated to the conversation. First of all, Trump had his interviews edited by FOX. That issue with CBS is being litigated, but it‘s not likely to be successful.
O’LEARY: I’m glad it’s being litigated.
PHILLIP: Because editing interviews is allowed in the United States of America, and it wasn‘t edited deceptively. But anyway, we‘re moving on because that is not part of the conversation.
