CNN’s GOP Town Hall Scores Highest Town Hall Ratings to Date, Beat Fox, MSNBC Overall

trump cooperCNN’s Republican town hall last night was the most-watched of any town hall this election cycle. CNN has held a lot of town halls in the past few months, while MSNBC’s held 6 and Fox News has held 3.

All three remaining candidates––Ted Cruz, Donald Trump, and John Kasich––appeared on stage in Wisconsin for an hour each to take questions from Anderson Cooper and the audience.

Unsurprisingly, the 9 pm hour with Trump was the highest-rated of the night, with 4.04 million total viewers and 1.33 million in the 25-54 demo, both way ahead of Fox News (1.91 million total, 363K in the demo).

The 10 pm hour with Kasich––2.97 million total, 999K in the demo––did better than the 8 pm hour with Cruz––2.78 million total, 853K in the demo.

Overall, the 3-hour town hall received an average of 3.263 million viewers, compared to 1.996 million for Fox and 1.156 million for MSNBC. (It’s worth noting here that Bill O’Reilly was off last night and Eric Bolling filled in.)

CNN’s post-debate special edition of CNN Tonight also beat out its competitors in the total and demo.
