Fox Biz Anchor Confuses One Old Guy Named John Browne for Another Old Guy Named John Browne
Fox Business anchor Sandra Smith spoke with former UK politician John Browne this morning to discuss the “Brexit”––whether the UK should withdraw from the European Union––or not, but she accidentally ID’d him as the wrong John Browne.
She introduced him as Lord John Browne and at one point referenced a Wall Street Journal piece he wrote about the Brexit.
The problem here is that Smith accidentally confused this Browne––former MP––with the actual Lord John Browne, a businessman who was chief executive for BP for a while.
That Browne took to Twitter to clear things up:
This man is not me and – I do not support Brexit! @FoxNews @MorningsMaria https://t.co/rZds4TZXIL
— John Browne (@LordJohnBrowne) June 20, 2016
What makes it ever more awkward is that the Browne on FBN this morning is for the Brexit, but this Browne is against it:
As I made clear in my @WSJopinion article, Britain is stronger in Europe https://t.co/M0t3AHhwld
— John Browne (@LordJohnBrowne) June 20, 2016
Later in the day, FBN issued an on-air correction.
