Fox & Friends’ Ainsley Earhardt: The Mueller Investigation Has ‘So Far Proven No Collusion’ UPDATED
In light of a massive Congressional request for documents to 81 individuals that are either current or former members of both the Trump administration and Trump campaign, Fox & Friends co-host Ainsley Earhardt claimed that, so far, the investigation led by Special Counsel Robert Mueller as “proven no collusion” between Russian election interference and the Trump campaign.
Fox & Friends is reportedly the favorite program of President Donald Trump because the hosts, guests, and segments aired are almost exclusively in support — or some the parroting of — rhetoric that benefits the White House. And a recent jaw-dropping article in The New Yorker alleges in stunning detail just how coordinated Fox News opinion programming and the White House communications team are often in line.
After playing a clip of Rep. Jerrold Nadler (D-NY) discussing the significant investigation in the name of Congressional oversight, Ms. Earhardt said “so…Mueller investigation has proven no collusion and now Democrats are now trying to find a crime.”
A more accurate description would be that the Mueller probe has not yet released the results of their investigation of almost two years. The Mueller investigation, however, has thus far led to dozens of indictments, none of which directly connect the Trump campaign to Russian election interference efforts, though there have been more than 25 indictments issued to Russian agents for election interfering and defrauding Americans.
She continued by adding “they are going through all these different people President Trump’s life, family members, people within the administration, people who have worked for him over the years and his businesses, serving 19 people documents and many people are saying I hope when they do have to speak publicly that they will plead the fifth because this is a trap people say.”
Mueller’s investigation may very well conclude that there was no collusion, but to claim that his office’s efforts have so far “proven no collusion” is simply a false statement, one that is designed to be comfort food for the viewers of the Trump-friendly show, including the Commander in Chief himself.
UPDATE: Ms. Earhardt mentioned this again during the 8 AM hour and correctly noted of the Mueller report that “we haven’t gotten the results yet.”
