Fox’s Bret Baier Claps Back at MAGA Fans Over Protest of Trump Pentagon Policy — One Called Him ‘Moron’
Fox News anchor Bret Baier clapped back at MAGA fans upset about the network joining a protest of the Trump Pentagon’s proposed press policies, even politely responding to a viewer who called him a “moron.”
The network is among those protesting the new policy that was announced by Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, and which sparked immediate outrage from the Pentagon Press Association as an “unprecedented message of intimidation.”
Every outlet save one has refused to sign on to the new restrictions, which Baier laid out on Tuesday night’s edition of Fox News Channel’s Special Report:
FOX NEWS’S BRET BAIER: I covered the Pentagon for six and a half years. I covered The White House for four years. I covered the Pentagon when you were there…
And we knew not to, you don’t walk into the tank, and the classified areas are off limits. We obviously were always trying to get the story from different elements.
And there was a freedom, but everybody had badges with them.
At the White House, I never walked into the Oval Office or the Situation Room. These are stipulations that essentially are changing the dynamic about how to get information and how they disseminate information.
Baier, who is not afraid to engage with irate social media users, took on several MAGA fans who took exception to his report.
One X/Twitter user wrote “News agencies don’t get unfettered access to Military Intelligence; don’t care who you are!”, to which Baier replied “Never did. But thanks.”
Another said “sorry @FoxNews no one should have unfettered access to classified areas. Press restrictions make sense. I was shocked to learn they didn’t already exist.”
Baier replied “We could never go in classified areas. Never.”
And when one user wrote “@BretBaier is a m0r0n,” the anchor responded, “Thanks for watching.”
