Fox’s Larry Kudlow Recites Trump’s Abysmal Poll Numbers and Says, ‘I’m Not Sure Why This Is’

Fox Business host Larry Kudlow tried to wrap his head around some awful polling numbers for President Donald Trump.

On Tuesday’s edition of Kudlow, the former Director of the National Economic Council during Trump’s first term pointed to the president’s approval rating on inflation. According to a RealClearPolitics average, 61% of Americans disapprove of Trump’s handling of the issue, with 36% disapproving. Trump is also underwater on the economy in general by 14 points.

Kudlow welcomed Fox News contributor and former Trump White House adviser Kellyanne Conway to the show and touted the president’s record.

“I mean, here’s the interesting thing,” he said. “Four percent growth in the third quarter, which ended in September. It was 3.8 in the second quarter, which is pretty remarkable. All the evidence shows there’s a business investment boom going on, which I think comes directly from the one big, beautiful bill.

The host went on to praise Trump’s foreign policy, but then arrived at the bad news:

So, there’s all these good things. But, but, but, but, interestingly – and I want to get your take on in this, polling-wise – he’s doing very poorly on the economy. Now, there may be reasons for this, but I will just say the averages from RealClearPolitics on the economy, Mr. Trump is underwater 41-54, 13 points underwater. And on inflation, again, the average of RealClearPolitics – and there are a lot of good polls inside that average – he’s underwater by 25 points, 61% disapprove, 36% approve.

I’m not sure why this is, but those are not good numbers going into the midterms. They’re just not good numbers in general. Even though, as I said, the economy is starting to boom and the inflation rate is not that bad. It’s 3%. It’s not getting any worse. So what do you make of that?

“I’ve been a pollster for decades, Larry,” Conway replied. “When people hear the word ‘inflation,’ they’re automatically negative. I think they hear the word ‘inflation’ more than they hear ‘Trump.’ And inflation is that one sticky issue that’s been so stubborn since Covid. People don’t like what they’re paying for things. But I would remind everybody, a year ago tomorrow, Donald Trump won in part because he said, ‘They broke it, I’ll fix it.’ It takes a long time to fix something that broken.”
