Fox’s Lawrence Jones: Putin ‘Slapped’ Trump Over Failed Ceasefire Talks
President Donald Trump is “extremely angry” with Russian President Vladimir Putin, according to Fox & Friends’ Lawrence Jones, who has a close relationship with the commander in chief.
Jones shared this insight Tuesday morning on F0x & Friends, following a report on rising tensions between the United States and Russia over failed diplomatic efforts over Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and their continued killing of innocent civilians with missile attacks.
Trump blasted Putin for having gone “absolutely CRAZY” in a late Sunday post on Truth Social following a deadly aerial attack on Kyiv, which reportedly killed at least 12 people and injured dozens more.
“I’ve always had a very good relationship with Vladimir Putin of Russia, but something has happened to him,” Trump wrote. “He has gone absolutely CRAZY! He is needlessly killing a lot of people, and I’m not just talking about soldiers. Missiles and drones are being shot into Cities in Ukraine, for no reason whatsoever. I’ve always said that he wants ALL of Ukraine, not just a piece of it, and maybe that’s proving to be right, but if he does, it will lead to the downfall of Russia!”
The Kremlin responded by calling the message “emotional.” According to Putin spokesman Dmitry Petrov, who said in a statement, “This is a very crucial moment, which is associated, of course, with the emotional overload of everyone absolutely and with emotional reactions.”
Following a report from Fox News’s Mark Meredith, Jones dropped his own reporting.
“Based on my sources that I’ve talked to, the president is extremely angry with Putin right now because he tried to do this the right way, get Putin off-ramp, give him a reset, try to hear him out on some of his concerns when it came down to NATO,” Jones said.
“And Putin has essentially slapped his hand,” he added. “And now he’s going after the president, publicly as well. So all I can report is that, yes, there may be sanctions, but there could be more as well.”
“And this isn’t because the president is somehow best friends with Zelensky as well, but the photos that he’s getting on a day-to-day basis of what’s happening to civilians has ticked him off,” Jones concluded. “And Putin is not keeping his word with the president.”
