Geraldo Further Ties Dave Matthews To “Major Schmuck” John Edwards
By now you probably have heard about the John Edwards-related book proposal splashed on the front page of the New York Times this weekend. But you may not have heard it explained by Geraldo Rivera.
The Fox News host has a unique storytelling method, and when confronted with a story as salacious as the Edwards scandal, Geraldo is at his best. This weekend he didn’t disappoint.
Basing the segment on one of the oddest portions of the Times story, the fact that Edwards wanted to marry Rielle Hunter “in a rooftop ceremony in New York with an appearance by the Dave Matthews Band,” Rivera gave a full background of the scandal, complete with relevant soundbites and a driving musical background. Here’s a portion of the segment:
If I was Dave Matthews I’d sue, because among the many sleazy revelations. in the supposedly secret but by now widely linked book proposal, former Senator and major schmuck John Edwards promised the mother of his lovechild that Dave would be the entertainment when Edwards married his mistress Rielle Hunter in a rooftop ceremony in New York.
That’s right, Rivera ID’ed Edwards as a “former Senator and major schmuck.”

If the book proposal turns out to be the way the eventual book looks, which as we pointed out over the weekend isn’t guaranteed, expect more segments like this from Geraldo and others.
