Harry Enten Declares Trump Foreign Policy Approval ‘Awful, Awful, Awful’: ‘Broken His Own Polling Record’
CNN chief data analyst Harry Enten declared on Friday that President Donald Trump’s foreign policy approval has sunk to its lowest point ever.
Enten joined anchor Kate Bolduan on CNN News Central and reported that the president’s approval on foreign policy is “awful, awful, awful.” At the start of Trump’s term in January, his net approval on foreign policy was plus-two points, but it’s now fallen in April to minus-13 points, according to Enten’s aggregate polling.
“Trump’s foreign policy approval ratings are ‘awful, awful, awful.’ He’s broken his own polling record,” Enten wrote on X.
Enten highlighted that polling going back to 1977 shows that presidents averaged positive-17 points on foreign policy at this point in their presidency. At the same point in Trump’s first term in 2017, he was minus-12 points.
“That was the all time record for a presidency, the 45th presidency of Donald Trump. You go to 47, he has broken his own record!” Enten said. “He is the worst on record at this particular point. He was already the worst, now he’s even more the worse right now.”
The president is currently working to negotiate an end to both Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and the Israel-Hamas war. Trump has had heated confrontations with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky amidst those negotiations and his net approval is even lower when it comes specifically to dealing with Ukraine and Russia.
Citing Fox News polling, Enten reported that Trump has a negative-18 point approval rating on his dealings with Russia and a negative-13 point approval rating for his dealings with Ukraine.
“No doubt feelings towards Russia and Ukraine are impacting Trump’s overall net approval rating on foreign policy,” Enten said, “which at this point is the worst on record.”
