‘It Is Just Absolutely a Crucifixion’: Fox & Friends Diner Compares Trump Criminal Trials Persecution of Jesus
Former South Carolina State Representative Chip Hawkins showed up at the Lizards’ Thicket diner in Columbia Friday morning to appear on Fox & Friends and proceeded to compare the trials of former President Donald Trump to the persecution of Jesus Christ.
Ainsley Earhardt traveled to her home state to receive an honorary degree from the University of South Carolina and also host the always fascinating diner segment for the Fox News morning show.
Earhardt asked Hawkins, a self-avowed Trump supporter, “What about these trials and what they’re doing to him? I’m sure you feel sorry for him, too.” Hawkins replied “It is just absolutely a crucifixion. It’s awful,” before saying the nation needs him to “win this battle and go over the goal line.”
Earhardt: He loves this country. Right. Chip Hawkins is behind me might recognize him. He was a representative for South Carolina. Now works for our university. Go Gamecocks. So, Chuck, what do you think about Donald Trump?
Hawkins: You know, I think he is, absolutely the best man for the job. We need some strength in this country, and we need it quickly.
Earhardt: What about these trials and what they’re doing to him? I’m sure you feel sorry for him, too.
Hawkins: It is just absolutely a crucifixion. It’s awful. And I can’t even imagine what he’s going through. Pray for him every day, and we just hope he can stay, stay the front and and win this battle and go over the goal line and take this country back. Yeah.
Earhardt: We need to thank you so much. All right, so we’re at Lizard’s Thicket on Elmwood. If you’re in the area, come on down and meet our South Carolina friends.
The interview left few questions about the ardent support that Trump has in significant portions of the country.
