Jake Tapper on Sessions Firing: The ‘Slow-Motion Saturday Night Massacre’ Continues

CNN’s Jake Tapper bluntly reacted to the firing of Attorney General Jeff Sessions today by saying it’s a “slow-motion Saturday Night Massacre.”

“After President [Donald] Trump fired James Comey, I said that we are all going through a slow-motion, multi-monthed Saturday Night Massacre,” he said, recalling the infamous Nixon “bloodbath.”

And Tapper argued that “President Trump has been doing that in slow-motion.”

Sessions said in his resignation letter that he is resigning at Trump’s request. So, in other words, he was fired.

And given the reporting about how Trump himself didn’t even call Sessions, Tapper noted, “It’s a grand irony of the Trump presidency that somebody who is best known for the catchphrase ‘You’re fired’ actually in real life never has the stomach to actually say it to anybody, whether it is James Comey or Omarosa or now Attorney General Jeff Sessions.”
