Jon Stewart Gives Rumsfeld One Last Epic Roasting: ‘Learning Curves Are for Pussies’

Jon Stewart tonight gave Donald Rumsfeld and company one final roasting over their culpability in getting America stuck in Iraq and refusing to learn any lessons from such. Because as Stewart’s said before, and reiterated tonight, “learning curves are for pussies.”

Stewart recalled his 2011 showdown with Rumsfeld (which he’s admitted he didn’t do a great job on) and really went off on Rumsfeld’s new comments about his skepticism over bringing democracy to Iraq, which Stewart filed under “comments that would have been useful earlier.”

He then explained that despite catching Rumsfeld in a gotcha moment, it feels “strangely hollow,” because, as Stewart demonstrated, Rumsfeld has shown zero remorse about anything to do with Iraq and the self-satisfaction of getting a confession like that out of someone won’t erase the bad decisions or guarantee those same bad decisions won’t be made in the future.

But he told future interviewers to “never stop trying,” because “there’s always hope that one day they’ll think, just for a second, and that second will be enough time to shove those motherfuckers into an ice flow.”
