Kathy Ireland On The View: Medical Marijuana Could Lead To A Nation Of Stoners

The View co-host Kathy Ireland had some strong opinions today on a recent bill introduced in Arizona that would require phone companies to give parents access to their children’s text messages. Barbara Walters seemed to view the proposed legislation with some trepidation, but Ireland said that her children (ages 8, 13 and 17) know that “[she has] complete authority to go through any computer or cell phone at any time,” and that it’s not snooping since it’s not a secret. Elisabeth Hasselbeck agreed whole-heartedly, even going so far as to suggest that cell phone companies requiring parents to pay for access to their kids’ texts “is a crime.” How else are they supposed to be protected from the nationwide sexting epidemic that has been largely debunked?

Barbara Walters raised the same issue from a different perspective: “[Do] you have the right to read your child’s diary?” she asked Ireland, who respond “Yes” with no hesitation. Wow, how many dollars would you bet that her 17-year-old has a decoy phone? Ireland and Hasselbeck were on the same wavelength regarding a bill to legalize medical marijuana in Colorado, with Elisabeth expressing concern that it would contribute to the growing number of people addicted to prescription drugs, Joy Behar suggesting that it will merely make everyone hungrier, and Kathy Ireland suggesting that it might lead to a nation of stoners, which would be disastrous since “If we’re going to turn this economy around, we’ve got to get back to work!” You can see the panel discuss the AZ bill in the clip below, via ABC:
