Maher Hits Fox News Amid Trump’s War With Media: They’re So Far Up His Ass, ‘They’re the Enema of the People’

After a month-long vacation, Bill Maher returned to his show Friday night and kicked off his monologue by weighing in on President Donald Trump‘s ongoing feud with the media.

Maher began by mocking Trump’s “hillbilly Nuremberg rallies” and said that it’s becoming “scary” for people in his “profession,” which was likely in reference to the rowdy hecklers that harassed CNN reporter Jim Acosta in Tampa, Florida.

“He calls the media the ‘enemy of the people,’ except, of course, for Fox News,” Maher said to his audience. “They’re so far up his ass, they’re the enema of the people.”

“So from now on, collusion- not a crime, but journalism apparently is.” Maher continued. “We now live in a country where reporting reality gets attacked because it threatens the fantasy world created by the cult leader.”

The Real Time host expressed some relief watching the recent briefing attended by DNI Dan Coats, FBI Director Christopher Wray, and Director of Homeland Security Kirstjen Nielsen and weighing in on election meddling in the 2018 midterms by the Russians.

“It was Russia! It’s Russia now, it’s happening again! It’s not a drill!” Maher exclaimed. “Now if we can just get the Commander in Chief on the same page… because when Trump ‘no collusion,’ he means with his own national security team.”

He also blasted the president for his recent tweets on the ongoing Mueller investigation.

“What happened to ‘I can’t comment on an ongoing investigation?’ Remember those days?” Maher asked. “If you’re so innocent, why do we have to stop the investigation? It’s a little suspicious. It’s like when you come home and the first thing the kids say is ‘The babysitter’s a liar!'”
