Mika Brzezinski Issues Fiery Rebuke of Ivanka: Family Separation Not a ‘Low Point For You’, It’s a ‘National Disgrace’

Mika Brzezinski issued an emotional rebuke of Ivanka Trump on Friday, in light of the first daughter’s comments that her father’s zero tolerance policy that separated families at the border was “a low point” for her.

“You can do better than that,” Brzezinski said. “That was Ivanka Trump yesterday acknowledging the impact of her father’s policy on herself. The policy that tore children from their parents at the U.S. border.”

John Heilemann pointed out that Ivanka, a White House official, said it was “a low point” for the administration, “as if to suggest it was something that happened to the administration, as opposed to something the administration inflicted on these children.”

“Like it’s the weather or something,” Heilemann joked.

“I just want to say that, because Ivanka Trump has her own political aspirations, you’re going to have to do this a little better,” Brzezinski said. “You’re going to have to try and act like you care. You’re going to have to try and act like people are not merchandise products. You’re going to have to try and act like this matters to the fabric of what this country was created upon.”

“I don’t think it’s a low point for you,” she continued, “I think it’s a national disgrace.”

MSNBC’s Willie Geist noted that Ivanka Trump is a White House official, but “continues to talk like she’s a bystander to all this.”

“She has a West Wing role, and she does nothing,” Susan Del Percio said. “She voices no agenda… Stop it and do something.”
