Mike Huckabee Jokes About Sarah Palin Snorting A Gram of Coke

Former GOP Presidential candidate Mike Huckabee has continued his bid to be re-dubbed Mike Yuck-abee, and while shots at Helen Thomas‘ looks might not hurt him with conservatives, his latest gem could cost him some supporters on the right. On Fox’s super-late-night laughfest Red Eye, Huckabee punctuated a clip of Palin’s views on pot legalization with a crack about Palin snorting lines of coke off of a glass table.

This kind of edge is nothing new for Huckabee, who probably wishes, like many politicians, that he’d gone into show business. He savvily glommed onto the Chuck Norris meme for some campaign ads, and the scattershot witticisms in his recent New Yorker profile are characteristic of his brand of humor.

It will be interesting to see if Palin’s fans are more forgiving of Huckabee than they are of other Palin jokesters like David Letterman (a sure bet) or Bill Maher. Since both Palin and Huckabee each have large followings on the Christian right, something like this could tip the unamused into Palin’s camp.

Most others will see this for what it is, an attempt at absurd humor that could have been worse. There are lots of things you can snort cocaine off of. I hear.
