Morning Joe Roasts a Battered Roy Moore For Poor Horse Riding Form
Morning Joe wasn’t satisfied with Alabama Senate candidate Roy Moore’s bruising loss to Democrat Doug Jones Tuesday night, and took some time out of Wednesday’s episode to roast him for his horse riding form.
Moore, if you can recall, rode to his voting poll to cast a vote on Tuesday atop his horse “Sassy.” He had a little trouble with the beast, but managed to not get bucked.
“Animal abuse is what we’re looking at here,” Mika Brzezinski started, “this guy thinks he rides horses.”
She then turned to Republican strategist Steve Schmidt, apparently himself “a rider,” and asked “what’s wrong with this video?”
“I don’t know where to start,” Schmidt replied. “First off, nobody who knows how to ride a horse holds the reigns out like that.”
Schmidt then was careful to note that criticism of Sassy the horse is unmerited: “That horse didn’t get a vote about the jackass on its back.”
“Sassy is clearly the victim,” the Morning Joe panel concurred.
“What a terrible rider,” Schmidt said.
“She does not want that man on top of her,” Brzezinski added.
“He is a man who has no business being on a horse, riding a horse, any more than he does being in the U.S. Senate,” Schmidt continued, before going on a rant about Moore’s absurd cowboy hat.
“And by the way, with regards to the cowboy hat — no true cowboy wears a cowboy hat inside. That goes for Sheriff Clarke too, with all the fake medals and pins,” Schmidt said, referring of course to the former Milwaukee sheriff and caricature, best known for fighting with strangers and bumbling through Fox News appearances.
“All these wacko cowboys that we have projected into our national conversation in life, you don’t wear a western hat inside.”
“Thank you Sassy,” Brzezinski concluded, “sorry about what happened to you.”
