NBC Olympics Helped Lift Meet the Press to #1 Last Week

The Sochi Olympics may not be helping the Today Show as much as NBC would have hoped, but they appear to have given this past Sunday morning’s Meet The Press a boost.
On Sunday, February 9th, Meet The Press was the #1 public affairs program with 3.673M total viewers. CBS’ Face The Nation came in second with 3.56M and ABC’s This Week came in third with 2.929M. On cable, Fox News Sunday trailed all three with 1.239M viewers. It was the NBC’s highest total viewer delivery since December 30, 2012.
The ratings marked a big turnaround for Meet The Press, which just last August dropped to a 21-year low with 2.913M viewers and began to consistently trail the Sunday morning offerings from ABC and CBS.
This week’s show was no doubt buoyed by NBC’s exclusive coverage of the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia. Host David Gregory spoke to U.S. Ambassador to Russia Michael McFaul and NBC News’ Richard Engel delivered a live report from Sochi.
