Paul Ryan Dismisses Effort to Censure Trump: Would Turn Into a ‘Partisan Hack-Fest’
As Speaker Paul Ryan continued getting grilled over his response to President Trump‘s Charlottesville remarks at his CNN town hall tonight, one attendee brought up the question of censure.
Rabbi Dena Feingold brought up how alarmed she and others in the community have been about white supremacists, asking him “what concrete steps” he will take to hold President Trump accountable.
Some Democrats have been pushing for the House to censure the President over his “both sides” comments, but Ryan––who earlier admitted the President “messed up”––thinks that’s going way too far.
“That would be so counterproductive,” he responded. “If we descend this issue into some partisan hack-fest, into some bickering against each other and demean it down to some political food fight, what good does that do to unify this country?”
