Piers Morgan Challenges Herman Cain To CNN Debate — Will It Happen?

Piers Morgan and former GOP presidential primary candidate Herman Cain got into a bit of a Twitter battle this afternoon, with the CNN host repeatedly challenging the Republican to a public debate.

The squabble began this morning when Cain linked to his website’s write-up of Morgan’s explosive debate with gun advocate and musician Ted Nugent. “Piers loses another gun debate as his ratings falter,” Cain wrote. Morgan responded by demanding that Cain “stop mocking me from your keyboard” and challenged Cain, “if you’ve got the guts,” to debate guns on his CNN show:

Cain responded in a dismissive manner, as seen above, telling Morgan: “Bless your heart! Calling me out like we’re on the playground. I was simply speaking the #truth, sir.”

Before Cain and Morgan butted heads again, the latter’s CNN colleague Roland Martin also got in on the fight, responding to another of the conservative radio host’s tweets:

Later in the afternoon, Morgan responded to a Cain tweet about Obama’s fiscal policy, challenging him: “Like I said, any time you fancy a proper debate, on TV, let me know.. Mr Keyboard Warrior.”

Cain replied by mocking the CNN host: “You have proper debates on your show? I’ll DVR it sometime.” And then Cain boasted his debate skills by linking to a “proper debate” he had with Bill Clinton on national TV. For those unfamiliar with the clip, it is from a town hall in which Cain scolded the president for not understanding how his health-care proposals would affect businesses like his.

So will Cain end up going on Morgan’s show? Seems unlikely. But we’ll be there to cover it if/when it happens.
