The 7 Absolute Worst Reactions To Rand Paul’s Drone Filibuster

 

Sen. Rand Paul‘s 13-hour-long filibuster of CIA director John Brennan‘s nomination drew overwhelming admiration of libertarians, (many) conservatives, (some) liberals, and principled progressives. But, naturally, it also drew a fair amount of anger and mockery from dismissive liberals and neoconservatives alike.

Seething condescension, accusations of “craziness” and “empty-headedness,” and outright dismissal of Paul’s civil libertarian concerns constituted a large portion of the critics’ thoughts. Some seemed to jump to a knee-jerked defense of their beloved Obama administration; others seemed unable to handle the thought of a Republican challenging the perpetual warfare state; and the most powerful voices simply seemed to yearn for a day when Bush-like foreign policy was the unchecked norm.
