‘This is So Stupid…Ron DeSantis Knows Better’: CNN Commentator Ana Navarro Slams Florida Gov. For Selling Anti-Fauci Merchandise

CNN political commentator Ana Navarro had scathing criticism for Gov. Ron DeSantis’ (R-FL) recent messaging targeting Dr. Anthony Fauci, including a t-shirt sold by his PAC that says “Don’t Fauci My Florida.”

CNN Newsroom host Jim Acosta played a clip of his interview with Fauci from the previous night, in which he asked him about the anti-Fauci merchandise being sold by DeSantis’ PAC.

“It almost doesn’t even deserve a comment,” was Fauci’s reaction. “It’s just — you know, taking an individual who stands for public health, for truth, for doing the right things, to protect the safety and the health of the public — which I have done now for four decades — and to use my name in a derogatory way to prevent people from doing things that’s for the benefit of their own health, go figure that one out, Jim. I have no idea what that’s all about. That doesn’t make any sense at all.”

Acosta asked Navarro for her reaction.

“I’m indignant about it and I find it painful,” she replied, mentioning that her husband had been hospitalized when he had Covid, she had lost loved ones to the virus, and she was concerned about the rising numbers in Florida.

“I know Ron DeSantis knows better and can do better,” Navarro continued. “We just saw him lead in a cooperative fashion at the collapse in Surfside, cooperating with [President] Joe Biden, with the federal administration, and with the local mayor. He can do that.”

Navarro mentioned several Republican governors who were “putting politics aside, putting partisanship aside” and pushing their citizens to get vaccinated, like Gov. Asa Hutchinson (R-AR), Gov. Jim Justice (R-WV), and Gov. Mike DeWine (R-OH).

“This is so stupid,” she said, mentioning how DeSantis and former President Donald Trump were already vaccinated, but they were still “exploiting this for political purposes.”

DeSantis “doesn’t need to to this, to be the heir apparent to Donald Trump — he’s there already,” she said, but his actions were “harming the people of Florida and putting his constituents at risk.”

“It’s irresponsible and it needs to stop,” Navarro concluded.
