Trump Says He Hopes CBS Is ‘Fairer’ Under New Management: ‘I Don’t Expect Them To Become Like Fox’

President Donald Trump told CNN he hopes CBS will be “fairer” under new management — three months after his $16 million settlement with the network’s parent company.

CNN’s Jake Tapper reported on The Lead on Wednesday that he had a 10-minute phone interview with the president this week. The majority of the conversation was centered on the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas, but Tapper noted that in true Trump “fashion,” he also took some time to rage against how the media treats him and his administration.

Trump blasted ABC News and George Stephanopoulos over a recent interview with Vice President JD Vance. The exchange got heated, especially when Stephanopoulos grilled Vance on reports of border czar Tom Homan allegedly accepting a bribe.

The president previously raged at the network during a cabinet meeting at the White House.

“I don’t take questions from ABC fake news after what you did with Stephanopoulos to the vice president of the United States. I don’t take questions from ABC fake news,” he told a reporter from the network.

Trump told CNN that he expects CBS News be “fairer” under new management.

“I don’t expect them to become like Fox,” he said, adding he just wants them to be “fair.”

Paramount, the parent company of CBS, agreed to pay $16 million dollars to settle a lawsuit from Trump in July over a report on an interview with former Vice President Kamala Harris on 60 Minutes.

The settlement came as Paramount was seeking FCC approval for a merger with Skydance (which was approved) and Bari Weiss becoming the new editor-in-chief.

One of Weiss’s first moves was a memo to employees asking them to explain how they spend their work hours.

“I want to understand how you spend your working hours,” she said. “and, ideally, what you’ve made (or are making) that you’re most proud of. I’m also interested in hearing your views on what’s working; what’s broken or substandard; and how we can be better.”

Trump also told Tapper he is considering a sit-down interview with CNN, something he has not done since 2016.
