Fox Host Lashes Out At Chris Cuomo For Attacking His Pro-Trump Take On Signalgate

Fox News host Brian Kilmeade lashed out at NewsNation host Chris Cuomo for attacking his pro-Trump take on the Signalgate scandal that has engulfed President Donald Trump’s administration.

The story has dominated the news since Monday when Jeffrey Goldberg dropped a blockbuster report that revealed he was (apparently inadvertently) included in a text chain in which the Principals Committee discussed plans to strike Houthi rebels in Yemen — strikes that shortly came to pass. Trump National Security Adviser Mike Waltz is the official who accidentally added Goldberg to the chat on the Signal app.

In media appearances and Congressional hearings, the Trump administration’s responses have included the claims that the information on the texts was not classified, that they weren’t “war plans” but rather merely “attack plans,” that Goldberg somehow tricked Waltz, or even hacked his way in, or that a lower-level staffer is “somehow” responsible.

In an interview with White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt on Thursday’s edition of Fox & Friends, Kilmeade complained to Leavitt that the press is “going to pound you” on the Signalgate scandal even though “there’s so many other things to talk about.”

Kilmeade expanded on that theme in an X/Twitter post in which he accused the media of trying to turn the story into a ubiquitous distraction.

“Watch @cnn @msnbc @ABCPolitics all try to Russiafy this #signal story- wont work – @realDonaldTrump moving too quick with substantial orders and legislation to be gummed up in it….and American people see the pattern – wont tolerate it- Agree? Weigh in,” Kilmeade wrote.

Cuomo — a former CNN anchor who now hosts an eponymous NewsNation show — slammed Kilmeade over the comment.

“This is a propagandist,” Cuomo wrote.

Kilmeade responded hours later by writing, “You are a discredited ego maniac who no one watches. Sorry I can’t be more like your idol @donlemon.”

Cuomo responded with an as-yet unanswered invitation:

“You can use your little insults on here. And everyone knows you only defend a side. Stand by your words when I see you in person,” Cuomo wrote.
