WATCH: RNC Co-Chair Nominee Lara Trump (Slightly) Walks Back Her Pledge to Give ‘Every Single Penny’ from the RNC to Her Father-in-Law
The 468 Republican Congressional candidates this fall who are counting on financial support from the Republican National Committee can breathe a sigh of relief. The RNC’s potential new co-chair has (slightly) walked back her pledge to devote 100 percent of the RNC’s funds to former President Donald Trump.
Appearing on Fox News’ Sunday Morning Futures, RNC co-chair nominee Lara Trump — who, days earlier, had promised to dedicate the entirety of the RNC’s budget in support of her father-in-law — backed off that pledge just a little bit.
“What I can assure you is if I am there, I will make sure that every single penny donated to the RNC goes to electing Donald Trump,” she said — taking a beat before adding,” and again, extending our lead in the House and taking back the Senate.”
Earlier in the week, Lara Trump vowed the RNC’s money would only be devoted to Donald Trump’s cause.
“Every single penny will go to the number one and the only job of the RNC,” she said on Newsmax Tuesday. “That is electing Donald J. Trump as president of the United States and saving this country. We have no time to waste. We’ve got to get to work. We’ve got a lot of money to raise and we need to ensure that every penny goes to those things that I just mentioned.”
From the outset, Lara Trump has made her priorities for the RNC clear.
“I think we need to raise a lot of money,” she told Fox News anchor Maria Bartiromo on Sunday.
