‘A Death Warrant for Planet Earth’: Van Jones Fumes Over Trump’s Climate Change Order

On Tuesday, President Donald Trump signed an executive order that effectively rolled back many of then-President Barack Obama‘s climate change policies, in a move the White House is touting as a means to bring back jobs in the coal industry.
The executive order had many critics, including CNN’s Van Jones. Speaking out on Twitter shortly after the signing, Jones called the order “a death warrant for Planet Earth.”
.@realDonaldTrump just signed a death warrant for Planet Earth. Erased climate protections that were already too weak. Support @GreenForAll!

Trump (of course) shrugged off criticism about the environmental ramifications of the order by claiming that the economic benefits of the move took precedence.
“We’re ending the theft of American prosperity and reviving our beloved economy,” Mr. Trump said. “The miners told me about the attacks on their jobs. I made them this promise. We will put our miners back to work.”
