Accused Leaker Reality Winner Snuck NSA Docs Out by Hiding Them in Her Pantyhose

Former federal contractor Reality Winner had an interview with the FBI recently, and it included the interesting moment where she revealed how she smuggled classified information out of the National Security Agency.

Court filings on Winner were made public on Wednesday night, and it would seem federal prosecutors grilled her on why she allegedly became a government leaker. Winner said she couldn’t understand why the agency was keeping quiet about certain signs that Russian military intelligence hacked an American voting software supplier before the 2016 election.

“Seeing that [information] that had been contested back and forth in the public domain for so long, trying to figure out, like, with everything else that keeps getting released and keeps getting leaked – why isn’t this getting – why isn’t this out there? Why can’t this be public?”

Regarding the document she sent to The Intercept, Winner insisted she kept the printout on her desk for several days before she planned to dispose of it in a burn bag. After some prodding from an FBI agent, Winner eventually said she “folded [the document] in half in my pantyhose,” in order to get it outside the NSA building.

“Let’s be straight, there’s little to no security on documents,” said Winner. “Nobody pats you down.”

Winner continues to face charges from the Department of Justice after she leaked the sensitive document months ago.
