11 Dead in Pittsburgh Synagogue Shooting, 6 Injured; Officers Shot, Suspect in Custody

 

Police are responding to an active shooter situation in Pittsburgh at the Tree of Life Synagogue.

Pittsburgh Public Safety confirmed that there is an active shooter in the area:

KDKA is reporting that at least four people have been killed. Authorities so far have confirmed “multiple casualties.”

UPDATE –– 11:18 am ET: KDKA is now reporting that eight people were killed.

UPDATE –– 11:25 am ET: There has been reporting that the shooter was shouting very blatant hate speech about Jews:

And KDKA now reports the suspect has surrendered:

UPDATE –– 11:31 am ET: Authorities have confirmed the suspect is in custody and that multiple officers were shot.

UPDATE –– 11:41 am ET: NBC News is now reporting 12 people were shot, including 3 officers, and 8 people are dead:

UPDATE –– 1:18 pm ET: Authorities said this afternoon there are 6 injured, including 4 police officers.

UPDATE –– 3:44 pm ET:: KDKA is now reporting 11 people were killed.

UPDATE –– 4:14 pm ET: Officials confirmed 11 people were killed and 6 were injured at a briefing later this afternoon.
