Breitbart Deletes Tweet Suggesting Muslims Will End Super Bowl: Did Not Meet ‘Editorial Standards’
It’s rare, if not unprecedented, for Breitbart News to tweet something so racist or offensive that the outlet ends up deleting it.
But that happened Sunday night, after Breitbart tweeted out a joke apparently suggesting that in the future Muslims will have taken over the United States and ended the Super Bowl.
Here’s a screenshot of the tweet:

After receiving a fair amount of blowback, Breitbart deleted the offending tweet, and issued another one stating it “did not meet our editorial standards.”
We have deleted a tweet that did not meet our editorial standards.

Though this might be the first mea culpa Breitbart has issued regarding a tweet, it isn’t the first time the outlet’s editorial content has drawn outrage.
Aside from having a “black crime” tag which collected stories of crime committed by African Americans, the website was once deemed the “platform for the alt-right” by now-ousted chairman Steve Bannon.
The most stunning indictment of the website’s editorial direction, however, was a Buzzfeed expose that revealed how former editor Milo Yiannopoulos — with the help of Bannon and other editors at the website — watered-down racist and white supremacist views to feed them to Breitbart’s audience.
