Carson After Meeting Refugees: Bringing Them Into U.S. ‘Does Nothing’ to Solve Crisis

ben carsonIn the past day, Ben Carson has met with Syrian refugees in Jordan. And after speaking with them, Carson’s conclusion is that bringing them to the U.S. would solve absolutely nothing.

Carson posted a lengthy Facebook statement after his visit about how he heard firsthand the struggles and pains of people “who were forced to flee their own homes.”

“They came to Jordan for safety,” Carson says. “Jordan is doing an amazing job opening its doors and extending a hand in relief. The rest of the world could be doing so much more.”

What does that mean for the United States? Well, as Carson explains, the refugees should stay in the Middle East and the U.S. should provide support to them:

Jordan is a small country. They need the world’s help to feed, educate, and care for these refugees until the war ends.

The United States must do more. Bringing 25,000 refugees to the United States does nothing to solve this crisis. Jordan already houses 1.4 million refugees. Jordan needs and deserves our help.

He says he will release his own refugee plan soon.
