Carson Blasts Clinton’s ‘Extremely Poor Judgment’ and Lack of Character
Former GOP presidential candidate and current Trump supporter Dr. Ben Carson said that Hillary Clinton had demonstrated “extremely poor judgment” and a lack of character by using a private email server while serving as Secretary of State
Carson was speaking to MSNBC’s Andrea Mitchell shortly after FBI director James Comey announced that the bureau would not be recommending charges against Clinton, while still affirming that she had been “extremely careless.”
Carson said that he agreed that there may have been no criminality on Clinton’s part, but the issue of her judgment was still paramount. He said:
I believe that the judgment issues are the ones that are the most important, the character issues, because we’re talking about our children and our grandchildren. We’re talking about the future of our country. And again, I want to take this out of the partisan realm and talk about America and the kinds of values and principles that made us into a great nation. Are willing to throw those away for partisan reasons, or are we going to come back to our senses at some point?
On the subject of Trump’s Twitter account broadcasting an anti-Semitic image over the weekend, Carson was more forgiving, noting, “When you’re a certain person, you’re of a certain party, a certain philosophy, you’re going to be heavily criticized no matter what you do.” Trump was “not a racist by any stretch of the imagination,” he said.
