Casey Affleck Sort of Addresses Sexual Harassment Allegations in New Interview

Casey Affleck’s Best Actor Oscar win for Manchester By The Sea was controversial. Sexual harassment allegations from 2010 (which Affleck denied and which were settled out of court at the time) came back to haunt him this awards season and lots of people were unhappy with his win, including Brie Larson who seemed to be upset when she presented him with the award.
The Boston Globe published an interview with Affleck and Mark Shanahan who interviewed him asked about the allegations. Affleck “signed heavily” before telling him that neither of the parties were allowed to to discuss it, and that pretty much closed that door.
He did say, however, “I believe that any kind of mistreatment of anyone for any reason is unacceptable and abhorrent, and everyone deserves to be treated with respect in the workplace and anywhere else.”
Affleck added, “There’s really nothing I can do about it… Other than live my life the way I know I live it and to speak to what my own values are and how I try to live by them all the time.”
So…he sort of addressed he allegations, we guess. As much as he could.
