Cenk Uygur, co-host of The Young Turks, blasted CNN chief Jeff Zucker, Thursday, for his decision to hire former Donald Trump senior communications advisor and spokesperson Jason Miller.
Uygur criticized the move saying it would result in more Trump propaganda filtering into the mainstream media and that it was especially embarrassing for CNN given that the station is frequently targeted by the president as “fake news.”
“That’s embarrassing, dude,” said Uygur. “After he criticized you like that and he spits in your face, you go do him a favor by hiring the guy who was his mouthpiece.”
Uygur then played a clip of a particularly brutal exchange between Trump and CNN reporter Jim Acosta, where the then president-elect repeatedly shouted down Acosta before calling him “fake news.”
“If you insult CNN, they hire you. If you really insult CNN, they’ll pay you a ton of money to insult them on their own air,” said Uygur in disbelief.
Uygur then ended with some advice for Zucker. “You don’t need two sides doing propaganda, you just need all of your people actually trying to arrive at what is real.”
