For the last few years, Charlie Sheen has been known both as a playboy, and for being… somewhat out there with the things he’s said and done. Sheen planned to unveil a “revealing personal announcement,” during an upcoming appearance on Today, but sadly, reports are now indicating that this announcement is to tell the world he has HIV.
While the subject of the announcement has not been confirmed by NBC or Sheen’s people, TMZ and the National Enquirer have both reported that the former Two and a Half Men star is carrying the virus that causes AIDS. The reports also allege that Sheen has been spending millions recently in an attempted cover-up for the fact that he might have spread it around in his numerous sexual affairs with women.
In a discussion with Howard Bragman, the Hollywood publicist reportedly confirmed the rumor to People Magazine, saying Sheen was receiving treatment, and that he has struggled to open up about it in the past.
“I’ve known about this a long time, it’s not a surprise to me,” Bragman said. “I feel very sorry for his pain. And I hope it’s used as a teachable moment for the world. This is a disease that can affect anyone.”
