Chris Kyle’s Killer Eddie Routh Found Guilty in American Sniper Trial
A jury has found Eddie Routh guilty for the murders of former Navy SEAL Chris Kyle, the subject of the American Sniper film, and his friend, Chad Littlefield at a gun range in 2013. The defense in the case had hoped for a not guilty verdict by reason of insanity. The judge said Routh would be sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
During a taped confession played for the jury last week, Routh could be seen telling police he knew killing the two men was “wrong” and saying, “I’m just sorry for what I’ve done.”
Earlier Routh’s defense attorney revealed text messages sent from Kyle to Littlefield in the car on the way to the gun range, in which he called the defendant “straight up nuts.” The lawyer argued that his client thought the two men were going to “take his soul” unless he took theirs.
