CNN’s Harlow Grills Fmr. Trump Advisor: Can You Name One Terrorist Attack by a Syrian Refugee?

CNN’s Poppy Harlow grilled former Republican congressman and Trump advisor Jack Kingston on exactly what justifies President Trump‘s decision to ban U.S. entry to refugees and citizens of seven majority-Muslim nations.

Kingston said the Obama administration’s policy clearly didn’t work, but Harlow asked him for specific examples of terrorist attacks carried out by Syrian refugees. She said, “Point to an event that you think justifies this ban.”

He cited the terrorist attacks in Fort Hood, Orlando, and San Bernardino. But as Harlow noted, the Fort Hood shooter was born in Virginia, the Orlando shooter was born in New York, and one of the San Bernardino terrorists was born in Illinois, while the other was born in Pakistan (not on the list of seven nations in the president’s order).

Kingston got into a heated back and forth with Harlow as he insisted that this is just part of Trump’s comprehensive strategy towards terrorism and immigration.

Harlow also pointed out that none of the nations the 9/11 hijackers came from were included in the executive order.
