Congressman Allen West Says Herman Cain Has Become A Distraction In The Race And Should ‘Move On’

Rising conservative star Congressman Allen West appeared on Morning Majority WMAL and called for Herman Cain to end his campaign for the Republican nomination, saying the former Godfather Pizza CEO has become a distraction. “Beyond reassessing his campaign, he probably needs to understand that he is a ‘distracter’ for what’s going on right now and we should move on,” West said. “That would be my advice if he had the opportunity to ask me.”

West said he believes the election has become a two-man race. “I think Speaker Gingrich is next in line for conservatives other than Romney,” West opined. “I think Speaker Gingrich brings a lot of political intellect and experience to the table, his ideas that he is able to bring forth are exceptional and I think that makes him very viable now.”

He did note that Gingrich had a lot of personal baggage but none more damning than President Obama‘s problems.

“One thing that really perplexes me, no one talked about a lot of the associations that President Obama had, no one talked about a lot of the things in his personal life, the drug use and things along that line, now there is this duplicitous hypocrisy they’re trying to bring on the Republican candidates.”

Interestingly, West said he would be open to being Vice President, “If people believe that I can make a difference…I will make that call.”
