Democratic Rep. Takes a Knee on House Floor ‘In Honor of the 1st Amendment’

Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee took a knee on the House floor last night in solidarity with NFL players criticized by President Donald Trump.

She was particularly incensed by Trump’s comment that owners should get “son of a bitch” players off the field, decrying the attack as racist.

Jackson Lee then kneeled and made the following remarks:

“I kneel in honor of the First Amendment. I kneel because the flag is a symbol for freedom. I kneel because I’m gonna stand against racism. I kneel because I will stand with those young men, and I’ll stand with our soldiers, and I’ll stand with America, because I kneel.”
