Eric Holder, David Axelrod Fight Comes To Blows In White House, According To New Book

The U.K. Telegraph reports that an attempt by President Barack Obama’s White House to insert political operatives into Attorney General Eric Holder’s Department of Justice resulted in a physical fight between Holder and senior Obama campaign advisor David Axelrod. Their fight, the details of which are outlined in an upcoming book, had to be broken up by senior White House advisor Valerie Jarrett.

Author of the forthcoming book Kill or Capture: The War on Terror and the Soul of the Obama Presidency, Daniel Klaidman detailed the fight in his book that outlines President Obama’s evolving counter-terror strategy.

The book details how Holder became “incensed” when he was confronted by Axelrod about coming out and publicly complaining about interference from the White House into his DoJ. “Don’t ever, ever accuse me of trying to interfere with the operations of the Justice Department,” Klaidman alleges Axelrod said.

Klaidman writes that Jarrett “pushed her way between the two men, her sense of decorum disturbed, ordering them to ‘take it out of the hallway.'”

On CBS’ Face the Nation on Sunday, Axelrod said that the reports were false and he is great friends with Holder.
