Florida Students Sue College, Claim They Were Given Forced Vaginal Probes

valenciaTwo female Florida students have filed a lawsuit against Valencia College claiming that they were forced to undergo transvaginal ultrasounds as part of the college’s Medical Sonography Program.

These unnamed students claim that [PDF] “the program had a male student who would also probe the female Plaintiffs on a regular basis” and they expressed their concerns about this rather disturbing policy.

But the worst part was that they were forced into this, saying in the lawsuit, “Valencia’s established and widespread policy was to browbeat students who did not consent to those invasive probes and threaten Plaintiffs’ academic standing as well as their future careers until the students complied.”

They were probed, the suit says, “without a modicum of privacy” and sometimes students “would have to sexually ‘stimulate’ Plaintiffs in order to facilitate inserting the probe into Plaintiffs’ vaginas.”

And on top of all that, when they spoke out, they were allegedly retaliated against, threatened with lower grades and interference with potential future employment. The suit notes, “Plaintiffs suffered general damages consisting of personal humiliation, pain emotional and suffering as well as being unable to enroll in other sonography programs.”
