Fox News Anchor Reads Threatening Tweets On-Air: ‘Twitter Can Be Such a Dark and Ugly Place’
Twitter was not happy with Fox News anchor Heather Childers after she announced the network will be covering President Donald Trump’s “Dishonest & Corrupt Media Awards,” as the social media network unleashed death threats and cries of treason on the reporter.
On Tuesday, Childers posted: “Tomorrow is the day! Dishonest & Corrupt Media Awards supposed to be announced by @POTUS!”

The tweet, which now has more — mostly angry — replies than likes, was shared by CNN’s Brian Stelter , who knocked Childers for being too excited at the president’s attack on the press.
“Seriously? Exclamation points and everything?” Tweeted Stelter.
However, the CNN reporter’s criticism would prove to be one of the more tame responses, as Childers read several vicious tweets from viewers on the air.
“One person called me ‘a traitor to our country,’ because we were gonna’ do the segment [on Trump’s awards],” Childers said while appearing on Fox & Friends. “Another says, since I ‘work the 4 a.m. shift,’ do I ‘also wax the floors.’ And then this was the best one, just because we mentioned it was coming up.”
In what amounted to a more threatening and less entertaining version of Jimmy Kimmel’s celebrity mean tweets segment, the anchor continued by reading a particularly threatening post. “‘Kill yourself race is coming up. You go first, Heather,'” Childers read.
“Oh my gosh… Twitter can be search a dark and ugly place,” the Fox & Friends host said.
