Sean Hannity, on Friday, was muted as he announced to his radio audience that CNN committed a major reporting error by wrongly claiming that the Trump campaign had early access to WikiLeaks documents. Hannity offered sympathy to those at the network involved, and he seemed to feel badly for an outlet he holds in high regard.
Nah, just kidding. He totally rubbed it in.
“It shouldn’t surprise anybody,” Hannity said on his radio show. “I thought it might take ’til tomorrow like usual. But CNN’s big Russia-Gate bombshell? Well, sorry. It went off like an exploding cigar.”
The gleeful host added, “Whoopsie-Daisy.”
The Fox News host, of course, was not alone among his media peers in his criticism of CNN today. But there was extra verve in Hannity’s opening monologue compared with some of the others who’ve blasted the network — given that Hannity makes nightly sport of bashing CNN and MSNBC. Given legitimate reason to slam CNN, it was all but certain that Hannity was going to pounce.
“It looks like Wolf-y Blitzer and CNN fake news are going to have to take apology lessons from Joy Behar and Brian Ross,” Hannity said — referring to the ABC correspondent’s major gaffe last Friday, and the View host’s over-the-top reaction to it.
